Open Access

The University of Greifswald has been committed to free access to scientific results for many years and promotes Open Access with a wide range of information, funding, and publication services.

With the Open Access Policy (2024) adopted by the Rectorate, the Open Access Strategy for Science and Research in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (2025), and the signing of the Berlin Declaration in 2016, the University of Greifswald is clearly committed to free access to and open dissemination of scientific information. Since 2018, UG has offered its members a DFG-funded open access publication fund to finance publication fees for Open Access articles. Moreover, since 2020, there has also been a fund to promote Open Access books.
